Video content proposal selection relating to “Promotion for Information Provision Overseas”

At the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, in relation to the “Promotion for Information Provision Overseas” project, a call for proposals to transmit video content overseas was made via contracted organizations in February. On this occasion, we would like to report that we have selected some of such proposals to be supported by this project.

1 Outline of the “Promotion for Information Provision Overseas” project

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications is implementing the “Promotion for Information Provision Overseas” project in the third 2011 supplementary budget.

The “Promotion for Information Provision Overseas” project aims to communicate more effectively with overseas audiences, in order to prevent an expansion of economic damage from misunderstandings about the situation of the areas directly affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, as well as the state of Japan as a whole. This project supports the production and distribution of quality video content conveying Japan’s current situation of steady recovery from the disaster through Japan’s international broadcasting network and international co-productions.

2 Selection result

Calls for proposals to transmit video contents overseas were made via contracted organizations from February 1 (Wednesday) to February 21, 2012 (Tuesday), and from a total of 420 entries, 29 (JIB-TV section:13, International co-production section: 16) have been selected for this project.
