The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has today received a verdict from the Radio Regulatory Council (Chairman: Junichi HAMADA, President of Tokyo University) stating that the revision ordinance proposal to partially revise the standard transfer format for digital broadcasting was appropriate.

Background

The broadcast media plays an extremely vital role in offering beneficial information which prevents disasters and decreases damages. However the start of the Emergency Earthquake Reports by the Meteorological Agency in October, 2007, will demand processing time for the compression of information by the digital signal processing through the current digital broadcasting method, and the request by society as a whole to shorten this processing time is growing.
