New Method of Technical Conditions for Digital Cordless Phones

Start of Deliberation at the Information and Communications Council and Information and Communications Technology Sub-Committee and Accepting of New Method Proposals

The Information and Communications Council and Information and Communications Technology Sub-Committee (Sub-Committee Chairman: Masao SAKAUCHI, National Institute of Informatics General Manager) have today begun deliberations concerning the New Method of Technical Conditions for Digital Cordless Phones.
In conjunction with the beginning of deliberations, the MIC will be accepting new method proposals or plans for digital cordless phones to contribute to the Sub-committee on Low-Power System Committee deliberation.

Background of the Start of Deliberations

Cordless phones, widely used in homes and offices, were institutionalized in as analog cordless phones to the 250/380MHz band in 1987, while in 1993 digital cordless phones which use the 1.9GHz band and have a superior frequency use efficiency have been widely institutionalized, however it has been difficult to create high level capabilities to deal with high speed data.
Therefore, compatibility with high speed digital data, the creation of a new digital cordless phone method and use of new applications is desired, and the effective use of frequencies will be tested while maintaining the existence of the current method by carrier sense.
The new method of technical conditions for digital cordless phones will be deliberated under these conditions.
