The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has today received a verdict from the Radio Regulatory Council (Substitute Chairman: Hiroshi HARASHIMA, Professor of Tokyo University) regarding a notification proposal for the placement of AIS search and rescue transmitters which would partially revise the Radio Act Enforcement Regulation (1950 Radio Regulatory Council Committee Regulation No. 14), Radio Station Operation Regulation (1950 No.17), and Radio Equipment Regulation (1950 No.18), along with an ordinance proposal to partially revise the Frequency Allocation Plan (2009 MIC Notification No.714). The verdict stated that the original proposals were appropriate.
The MIC also accepted public comments from September 9 to October 9, 2009 regarding the inquiry and ordinance proposal and received no comments.
The MIC plans to revise the various ordinances based on the verdict and public comment results.
