The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) created a revision proposal to partially revise the Wireless Radio License Procedural Regulation (1950 Radio Regulatory Council Regulation No. 15), Registration Inspection Operators Regulation (1997 Postal Services Ordinance No. 76) and Radio Act Related Notification related to the introduction of the search and rescue transponder using the Automatic Identification System (AIS) and accepted public comments from Thursday, November 5 to Monday, December 7, 2009 regarding this ordinance and notification proposal.
No comments were received regarding these proposals.
The MIC plans to revise the related ordinances and notifications based on the comment results.
Background of the revision
Adoption of the SOLAS Agreement annex revisions at the 84th Maritime Safety Committee of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) held on May, 2008 will make it possible after the revision agreement is issued on January 1, 2010 for the use of Search and Rescue Transponders using AIS technology on regular vessels where placement of a search and rescue transponder is required.
