Inviting of Public Comments regarding a Partial Change Proposal for the Frequency Allocation Plan

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has created a partial change proposal for the frequency allocation plan regarding Kyoto and Hokkaido digital television broadcasts and public comments will be accepted from December 26, 2009 until January 25, 2010.

Reason for the changes

Changes regarding the Kyoto digital station (new relay station)

Viewing of NHK and Commercial television stations in the Kinki area in Kyoto is performed by the reception of radio waves from a broadcasting station located on Ikoma peak in Osaka Prefecture. However, do to high rise buildings in downtown Kyoto, reception in the city has worsened and an ample amount of radio waves cannot reach the area.
Therefore, the Frequency Allocation Plan is being revised to include the need to establish a new relay station for both the Kinki area commercial broadcasters and NHK in the location where the key station is already located.
