Cooperation with Republic of Chile towards Implementation of Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasts in Japanese Format (Boost to Japanese-Chilean Cooperation in the Digital Terrestrial Broadcast Sector)


In the afternoon of February 12th(Chile local time), the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) and the Republic of Chile Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications have signed a memorandum to confirm items for cooperation towards the implementation of the Japanese format for digital terrestrial television broadcasts (the ISDB-T format) in the Republic of Chile. On September 14 of last year, the Republic of Chile announced its decision to adopt the ISDB-T format.

Main Areas of Cooperation with the Republic of Chile towards the Implementation of the ISDB-T Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcast Format

(1) Cooperation towards the implementation of the ISDB-T digital terrestrial television broadcast format in the Republic of Chile
Japan and Chile will cooperate with institutions concerned, private-sector companies and others to dispatch public and private sector specialists, hold seminars, invite technicians, exchange personnel, etc.
(2) Bilateral Meetings
At bilateral meetings attended by both governments and private companies, implementation of bilateral cooperation will be closely examined based on the needs of the Republic of Chile with regards to technology transfers, personnel training, etc.
