Since 2009, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has been issuing subsidies for digital reception improvements in order to promote terrestrial digital broadcasting support in housing complexes (residential complexes) such as apartment buildings, and through shared reception facilities as part of its countermeasures against obstacles to reception, such as shadows cast by tall buildings.
This notification is to confirm that subsidies will continue to be issued in 2010.
1. Outline of subsidization scheme
(1) Target groups for applications
Managers (including community associations) of residential complex shared facilities, shared reception facilities in countermeasures against obstacles to reception.
(2) Subsidies available
A: Countermeasures against obstacles to reception through improved digital reception in shared reception facilities or through new facilities, or replacement with cable television facilities (enclosure 1).
B: Improved digital reception in shared reception facilities of residential complexes or replacement with cable television facilities (enclosure 1).
For B, subsidies provide a maximum of half the total expenses for establishment, repair or replacement of facilities that are essential for viewing terrestrial digital broadcasting (for the establishment of new shared facilities in the case of A, the maximum offered is two-thirds). However, in the case of B, there are limitations if expenses exceed 35,000 yen per household.
(3) Addresses for subsidy applications
Subsidy applications can be received at the "Digi Suppo" in each prefecture.
(4) Application acceptance period (and postmark validity)
For A: until July 30 (Fri), 2010 (applications currently being accepted)
For B: from April 12 (Mon) to August 31 (Tue), 2010
*There is only a limited budget available for the operation of subsidies, hence applications will no longer be accepted once the budget limit is spent.
