Appeal for Opinions on Second Proposal (Draft) from "Research Society Examining ICT Service Problems based on End User Opinions"


The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) established the "Research Society Examining ICT Service Problems based on End User Opinions" (Chairman: Masao Horibe, emeritus professor at Hitotsubashi University) in April 2009. Opinions on the society's Second Proposal (Draft) are being solicited from today until May 10 (Mon), 2010.


1. Details

In April 2009, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) established the "Research Society Examining ICT Service Problems based on End User Opinions" to examine specific countermeasures in response to various challenges arising from the need for arrangement of various rights in relation to intellectual property protection, personal information protection, communication secrets, etc., stemming from the appearance of new services and the use of new technology for information distribution.
The First Proposal, published in August 2009, compiled "Internet Map Services," "Countermeasures against Illegal Online Music Distribution," and "Revision of Guidelines concerning Personal Information Protection in the Telecommunications Business."
Opinions are now being solicited regarding the Research Society's Second Proposal (Draft), which compiles "CGM Services," "Lifelog Application Services," and "Safety Management Measures."


2. Outline of public appeal for opinions

Object of appeal for opinions: Second Proposal (Draft) of "Research Society Examining ICT Service Problems based on End User Opinions"
Deadline for submission of opinions: May 10 (Mon), 2010 at 17:00 (for mailed submissions, a postmark of the same day as the deadline is acceptable)

Opinions submitted will be published in the "Reports and announcements" section of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) website as well as in the "Public comment" area of the electronic government coordination portal "e-Gov" and will be distributed along with contact addresses.


3. Schedule hereafter

The Second Proposal will be decided at the next meeting based on the opinions submitted, and an official announcement will be issued thereafter.
