Protocol Signed for Implementation of Japanese Terrestrial Digital Television Broadcasting System in Plurinational State of Bolivia


On July 20 at 08:00 local time (Japanese time: 21:00 on July 20), Masamitsu Naito, Japan's Vice Cabinet Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications visiting Bolivia, and Walter Delgadillo Terceros, Bolivia's Public Works Minister, signed a protocol for implementation of the Japanese terrestrial digital television broadcasting system (ISDB-T) in the Plurinational State of Bolivia.
As was previously announced, Bolivia decided on July 5 of this year to adopt the Japanese system.



1. Main details of protocol for implementation of Japanese terrestrial digital television broadcasting system in Bolivia
(1) Technology transfer and specialist training

 Through cooperation between the government and people, specialists will be dispatched, seminars will be organized, technical experts will be invited, and exchanges of skilled workers will be carried out.

(2) Collaborative working group

 A collaborative working group comprising relevant organizations and bodies from both parties is to make a specific study of the implementation of bilateral cooperation based on meeting Bolivia's needs through technology transfers, exchanges of skilled workers, etc.


2. Future MIC initiatives for Bolivia
 The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will support prompt implementation and diffusion of the Japanese terrestrial digital television broadcasting system in Bolivia, based on the agreed protocol.
