Third Edition of "Plan for Countermeasures in Districts Suffering Poor Reception of Terrestrial Digital Broadcasting" Published

On August 10, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) and The Association for National Promotion of Digital Broadcasting published the Third Edition of the "Plan for Countermeasures in Districts Suffering Poor Reception of Terrestrial Digital Broadcasting" (First Edition published August 2009), which explains on a district level the state of poor reception of terrestrial digital broadcasting (not including poor reception caused by interference and malfunctions).

Since August 2009, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) and The Association for National Promotion of Digital Broadcasting have been compiling and publishing the "Plan for Countermeasures in Districts Suffering Poor Reception of Terrestrial Digital Broadcasting" (hereinafter "Countermeasure Plan"), which explains on a district level the state of poor reception of terrestrial digital broadcasting (not including poor reception caused by interference and malfunctions).

An updated edition has now been published on the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) website. Featured are additions highlighting districts that have been newly designated as "suffering poor reception" through surveys on districts suffering poor reception of radio waves from outside the area; shared facilities that have been newly identified as suffering difficulties affecting digitalization; and districts that have been newly designated as "suffering poor reception" through surveys measuring radio waves, particularly in districts where new digital relay stations were opened during 2009. An outline of the Third Edition of the Countermeasure Plan can be found in the enclosed document.
Also attached, for the first time, is a "list of newly serviced digital relay stations" to be serviced beginning January 2011.

Please note that the Countermeasure Plan is subject to periodic updates, with the next new edition scheduled to be published in January 2011.

*Only an outline of the updated edition is attached to this report - however, the complete Countermeasure Plan is published on the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) website mentioned above.
