This is to announce that the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will make a public appeal for new R&D subjects to be implemented in FY 2011 by the competitive capital system for Information and Communications Technology's “ICT Green Innovation Promotion Project (PREDICT*)” (previously known as “ICT Innovation Promotion Project for Global Warming Measures”).
This research and development will be incorporated in the FY 2011 draft budget, hence a public appeal will be held before the budget is arranged in order to commence R&D as soon as the budget is complete. Therefore, please understand that contents, etc. will be subject to change.

1. Objectives of organization

PREDICT aims to promote the creation of ICT seeds that will contribute to measures for coping with global warming, focusing on the first period of the Kyoto Protocol (2008 to 2012), and to achieve a drastic reduction in CO2 emissions by means of the results of those seeds as Japan makes international contributions to the issue of global warming through international expansion.

2. Targets of public appeal

This public appeal is for R&D subjects in PREDICT relating to systemized technologies that by means of implementation and industrialization will achieve a drastic reduction in CO2 emissions, etc., approximately two to three years after the conclusion of R&D.
An outline of the public appeal is provided in the enclosed document.

3. Period of public appeal

From February 7 (Mon) to March 8 (Tue), 2011 at 17:00
(Mailed applications must also arrive no later than this date)

4. How to apply
