The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has compiled a report on the state (as of the end of December 2010) of digitalization support in shared facilities at apartment buildings (large and small apartment complexes, etc.) as countermeasures against obstacles to reception (shadows cast by tall buildings, etc.) in line with the aim of achieving complete migration to terrestrial digital broadcasting by July 24, 2011.

(1) State of digitalization support in shared facilities as countermeasures against obstacles to reception (as of end of December 2010)
Of approximately 89,000 shared facilities nation-wide (utilized by approximately 8.3 million households), approximately 79,000 (88.4%) facilities (catering for approximately 7.4 million households, or 89%) now offer support for digitization.
Schedules for digitization have also been decided for approximately 9,000 (9.7%) facilities (catering for approximately 700,000 households, or 9%).
(2) State of digitalization support in shared facilities at apartment buildings (as of end of December 2010)
Of approximately 2.13 million shared facilities nation-wide (utilized by approximately 20.7 million households), approximately 2,006,000 facilities (catering for approximately 19.9 million households, or 96%) now offer support for digitalization.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will continue to implement via Digi-Support (Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) Television Recipient Support Center) efficient initiatives in cooperation with authorized persons, aiming for further improvements in promotional activities for digitalization support in shared facilities.
