Events relating to "Information Security Month" to be held


The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will hold events relating to "Information Security Month" (to be held in February) with the goal of spreading and accelerating information security countermeasures.


1. Outline

  Since 2009, the Government has established February as "Information Security Month" in order to strengthen public awareness of information security, and government bodies along with a wide range of other relevant bodies and organizations are cooperating to intensively promote initiatives designed to spread and accelerate awareness of the importance of information security through participation from citizens in all social strata.
  In line with this objective, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will hold events in all areas of the country to spread and accelerate information security countermeasures, centered around this Ministry and Regional Bureaus of Telecommunications, etc.
  Please note that details of the events relating to "Information Security Month" across the whole Government can be found on the National Information Security Center website.

2. Related events

  1. Public addresses, etc.
      Public addresses will be held in all areas of the country to spread and accelerate information security countermeasures, centered around each Regional Bureau of Telecommunications (including the Okinawa Office of Telecommunications), the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology, and related organizations.

  2. e-net safety courses (e-net caravan)
      Educational courses mainly aimed at guardians and teaching staff will be held to provide education concerning safe and secure Internet use so as to protect children from trouble on the Internet.

  3. Training courses for information security supporters, etc.
      Training courses will be held for "information security supporters," who act as regional advisers for the safe and comfortable use of computers and the Internet, as well as for supporter "lecturers."
