The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) is proceeding with the complete digitalization of public intellectual property such as books and publications, works of art and learning, historical documents, etc., and will now open a “Research Society concerning Digital Archive of Resources” aimed at building regional resources by constructing digital archives that can be jointly owned and used as electronic information on the Internet.
1. Purpose
The MIC is proceeding with the complete digitalization of public intellectual property such as books and publications, official documents, works of art and learning, historical documents, etc., and will now open a “Research Society concerning Digital Archive of Resources” (or “Chi-Digi-Ken”) with the purpose of building regional resources by constructing digital archives that can be jointly owned and used as electronic information on the Internet, gathering a wide range of authorized persons, arranging tasks involving the promotion of digital information resource distribution, and promoting reciprocal coordination between digital archives.
2. Matters to be considered
(1) Digital archives for the purpose of building regional resources
(2) Technological standardization of construction and coordination, etc.

4. Schedule
The first Research Society meeting will be held from 13:00 on February 2 (Wed), 2011 at the Large Conference Room on the third floor of Mita Public Conference Center, with a standardized report to be compiled in June 2011.
5. Other items
This Research Society will be opened as a sub-working team of the “Panel Discussion Technology Working Team concerning Promotion of Beneficial Use of Publishing in Digital Network Society” (see reference data).
