Opinions concerning “Technical Requirements for 920MHz Band Electronic Tag Systems, etc.” to be heard from authorized persons

The Mobile Communications System Committee, Information and Communications Council Technology Subcommittee is scheduled to begin investigation and study of “Technical Requirements for 920MHz Band Electronic Tag Systems, etc.” in February 2011.
Accordingly, on February 21 (Mon), 2011, there will be an opportunity for authorized persons to state their opinions at the scheduled Committee meeting, hence parties who wish to state their opinions should report in accordance with parts 2 through 4 as explained below.

1. Background to deliberation, etc.

At present, 950MHz band electronic tag systems (passive systems and active low-power wireless systems) are assigned a frequency band of 950-958MHz. However, a report (dated November 30, 2010) published by the “Working Group for Study of Frequencies for Implementation of Wireless Broadband” proposed a basic policy for the reorganization of frequencies in the 900MHz band through a transition to 915-928MHz (hereinafter, “920MHz band”) in order to strengthen international competitiveness, based on frequency assignment statuses in the West.
In view of this, the Mobile Communications System Committee, Information and Communications Council Technology Subcommittee (Chief Examiner: Makoto Ando, Professor at Tokyo Institute of Technology Graduate School of Engineering) will deliberate on “Technical Requirements for 920MHz Band Electronic Tag Systems, etc.” within the “Technical Requirements Necessary for Better Performance of Low Power Radio Systems” (Information and Communications Council Inquiry No. 2009 – September 30, 2002) so as to make possible the introduction of 920MHz band electronic tag systems, etc.

2. Parties permitted to state their opinions on this matter

Persons (regardless of nationality) who are learned, experienced or have expertise in matters relating to technical requirements for 920MHz band electronic tag systems, etc.

3. How to state opinions

The hearing of opinions is scheduled to be held on February 21 (Mon), 2011 at the Mobile Communications System Committee, Information and Communications Council Technology Subcommittee and will be conducted in Japanese only.

4. Necessary procedure for statement of opinions

Those who are hoping to state their opinions on this matter should submit opinions in writing along with their full name (in the case of corporations and organizations (hereinafter, “corporations, etc.”), the following are to be submitted: names of corporations, etc., full names of representatives, and full names and positions of persons actually stating the corporations' opinions) and occupation (does not apply to corporations, etc.) by post, fax or e-mail, to arrive no later than 18:00 on February 17 (Thu), 2011.
Please note that all expenses required for the statement of opinions are to be borne by the persons stating their opinions.
