Appeal for Opinions concerning “Draft Report on State of Standardization Policies regarding Environment for Cooperation and Merging of Communications and Broadcasting (2009 Inquiry No. 16)”

  From February 11 (Fri) to March 14 (Mon), 2011, a broad appeal for citizens' opinions will be conducted as per the outline below on the subject of the “Draft Report on State of Standardization Policies regarding Environment for Cooperation and Merging of Communications and Broadcasting (2009 Inquiry No. 16)” compiled by the Investigative Commission for Standardization Policies regarding Environment for Cooperation and Merging of Communications and Broadcasting (Chief Examiner: Jun Murai, Professor at Keio University) at the Information and Communications Council Policy Section Meeting.


1. Background

  On August 26, 2009, the Information and Communications Council received an inquiry from the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications concerning the state of standardization policies regarding the environment for cooperation and merging of communications and broadcasting, after which the Investigative Commission for Standardization Policies regarding Environment for Cooperation and Merging of Communications and Broadcasting was established at the Information and Communications Council Policy Section Meeting, and after repeated discussions the Investigative Commission has now compiled a “Draft Report on State of Standardization Policies regarding Environment for Cooperation and Merging of Communications and Broadcasting (2009 Inquiry No. 16).”

4. Submission deadline

  Opinions must arrive by March 14 (Mon), 2011 (mailed submissions must also arrive by this date)


5. Schedule

  Discussions will be held at the Information and Communications Council Policy Section Meeting based on the opinions received.
  Please note that a report on the state of standardization policies regarding the environment for cooperation and merging of communications and broadcasting is scheduled to be published in April 2011.
