From January 7 to February 1, 2011, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) conducted an appeal for opinions on the “Organizational Framework for V-Low Multimedia Broadcasting,” in response to which 122 opinions were received.
During the same period, a survey regarding the current circumstances of prospective entrants was carried out as a basic survey upon consideration of organizational maintenance for the implementation of V-Low multimedia broadcasting. This is to announce that as a result of the appeals, of the 133 prospective entrants who submitted, 18 parties hoped to be commissioned for domestic broadcasting (investment only) and 132 parties hoped to be commissioned as broadcasting businesses.
1. About the appeal for opinions
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) carried out an appeal for opinions on organizational maintenance for mobile device-oriented multimedia broadcasting using frequencies between 90MHz and 108MHz (hereinafter, “V-Low multimedia broadcasting”), in response to which 122 opinions were submitted.
The submitted opinions and their proponents are outlined in the enclosed document.
*Results from the appeal for opinions will be published in the “Reports and documents” section of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) website and in the “Public comment” area of e-Gov, the coordinated electronic government contact website.
2. About the survey of prospective entrants
During the same period as the above-mentioned appeal for opinions, a survey regarding the current circumstances of prospective entrants was carried out as a basic survey upon consideration of organizational maintenance for the implementation of V-Low multimedia broadcasting, in response to which 133 parties submitted to become entrants, of which 18 parties hoped to be commissioned for domestic broadcasting (investment only) and 132 parties hoped to be commissioned as broadcasting businesses.
Questionnaire respondents and details of response are as per the enclosed documents.
3. Schedule
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will proceed with organizational maintenance of V-Low multimedia broadcasting, based on the opinions received, the results from the survey of prospective entrants, and items that are necessary for the implementation of other mobile device-oriented multimedia broadcasting.
