Establishment of Billing Regulations for Type II Designated Telecommunications Equipment Connections

On February 22, 2011, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) received a reply from the Information and Communications Administration and Postal System Administration Council (Chairman: Atsushi Takahashi, Chairman of Board of Directors at Sumitomo Trust and Banking Company, Ltd.) concerning the establishment of billing regulations for Type II designated telecommunications equipment connections (inquiry no. 3027 - December 14, 2010).
The MIC will promptly establish billing regulations for Type II designated telecommunications equipment connections based on this reply.

1. Outline of ministerial ordinance plan

This matter concerns the establishment of a ministerial ordinance to determine methods for the regulation of billing relating to Type II designated telecommunications equipment connections, in order to introduce new billing systems at businesses that install such equipment, consequent upon revision of the Telecommunications Business Law (Act No. 86 of 1984 Law) by means of Article 5 in the Law (Act No. 65 of 2010 Law) for partial revision of the Broadcast Act, etc.
