"Oita Symposium on 'Regional ICT Systems Contributing to Natural Energy' - Uniting Energy and Communication" to be held

 

  The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will hold the "Oita Symposium on 'Regional ICT Systems Contributing to Natural Energy' - Uniting Energy and Communication" in order to carry out a broad exchange of ideas about a radio communication system for the implementation of reduced environmental impact.


1. Purpose of symposium

  The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) is currently developing a radio communication system utilizing frequencies that are becoming available through the migration to terrestrial digital television broadcasting to contribute to the reduction of regional environmental impact.
  This is a radio communication system for the implementation of power supply with greater stability, with a more accurate understanding of the situation of power generation by means of renewable energy forms such as wind power and sunlight, which are expected to spread in the future, and it will apply public broadband system technology, which is expected from now on to be installed at public facilities.
  At this Symposium, there will be a live demonstration from Hita City in Oita Prefecture, which is conducting proof-of-concept for this system, and there will also be reports concerning the latest technological trends and challenges, the state of decisions with regards to standards, and the adoption of technology, etc. In addition, a panel discussion will be held on the topic of "the potential of a radio communication system for regional activation."
