Special Mail Business Licenses, Correspondence Mail Agreements and Special Correspondence Mail Regulations Approved

On March 10, 2011, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) submitted an inquiry to the Information and Communications Administration and Postal System Administration Council (Chairman: Atsushi Takahashi, Chairman of Board of Directors at Sumitomo Trust and Banking Company, Ltd.) concerning applications from nine parties (including Akabou Asahikawa Light Motor Vehicle Cooperative) for special mail business licenses, correspondence mail agreements and the approval of mail regulations, and a reply was received from the above-mentioned Council stating its approval for these licenses to be granted.
Having received this reply, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will grant the relevant approvals and licenses as of March 11, 2010.

The granting of licenses to nine parties (including Akabou Asahikawa Light Motor Vehicle Cooperative) takes the total number of special mail businesses to 346. Special mail businesses are expected to respond to the needs of end-users who demand increased speed and diversification, focusing on offering various services through creative originality, and in turn expanding the range of options available to end-users.
