From February 16 to March 17, 2011, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) conducted an appeal for opinions on a plan for partial revision of Broadcast Act enforcement regulations accompanying partial enforcement of the Law partially revising the Broadcast Act. As a result, opinions were submitted by 28 parties, and the details of these opinions along with the views of the MIC are officially announced herein.
1. Background
The Law for partial revision of the Broadcast Act, etc., including Radio Law reform, came into existence at the 176th National Diet and was promulgated on December 3, 2010.
This same law dictates that the provisions set forth in Additional Clause 3 in Article 1 are to be enforced within six months from the date of promulgation, and a plan for partial revision of Broadcast Act enforcement regulations has been drawn up to service the necessary provisions. Accordingly, an appeal for opinions was held from February 16 to March 17, 2011.
2. Results from appeal for opinions
As a result of the appeal, opinions were submitted by 28 parties. These written opinions and the views of the MIC are as per the enclosed documents.
3. Schedule
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will promptly revise the Broadcast Act enforcement regulations based on the results of this appeal for opinions.
