The Mobile Communications System Committee, Information and Communications Council Technology Subcommittee has begun considering “the upgrade and expanded use of low power radio systems,” and is scheduled to compile a written report in July 2011.
Accordingly, the meeting of the Committee scheduled for June 13 (Mon), 2011 has been established as an opportunity for authorized persons to state their opinions, hence parties who wish to attend should report in line with steps 2 through 5 in the outline provided below.
1. Background to deliberation, etc.
The Radio Law revision (Act No. 65 of 2010 Law) performed a review of the upper limit of electrical power in antennas used by low power radio systems (channels not requiring licenses), and furthermore there are hopes for system upgrades based on the recent expansion of digital technologies, etc.
In view of these circumstances, the Mobile Communications System Committee, Information and Communications Council Technology Subcommittee (Chief Examiner: Makoto Ando, Professor at Tokyo Institute of Technology Graduate School of Engineering) is deliberating over “technical requirements necessary for better performance of low power radio systems” (Information and Communications Council Inquiry No. 2009 – September 30, 2002) with the aim of upgrading and expanding the use of low power radio systems.
2. Parties permitted to state their opinions on this matter
Persons (regardless of nationality) who are learned and have experience relating to the upgrade and expanded use of low power radio systems.
3. How to state opinions
The hearing of opinions is scheduled to be held on June 13 (Mon), 2011 at the Mobile Communications System Committee, Information and Communications Council Technology Subcommittee and will be conducted in Japanese only.
4. Necessary procedure for statement of opinions
Those who are hoping to state their opinions on this matter should submit opinions in writing to the address provided below along with their full name (in the case of corporations and organizations (hereinafter, “corporations, etc.”), the following are to be submitted: names of corporations, etc., full names of representatives, and full names and positions of persons actually stating the corporations' opinions) and occupation (does not apply to corporations, etc.) by post, fax or e-mail, to arrive no later than 18:00 on June 7 (Tue), 2011. Necessary adjustments may be made in relation to deliberation times.
Please note that all expenses required for the statement of opinions are to be borne by the persons stating their opinions.
