Official Announcement regarding Cable Television Businesses Selected to Conduct “Digital Analog Conversions”

Reception environment improvements toward completion of migration to terrestrial digital broadcasting

  The implementation of digital analog conversions for cable television is expected to fulfill a certain role as a link to reception environment improvements required in the completion of migration to terrestrial digital broadcasting.
  Businesses selected to conduct digital analog conversions for cable television (authorized facilities carrying out independent broadcasting) have now been compiled together with the initiation period of digital analog conversion.
  There are 360 businesses (448 facilities) scheduled to carry out digital analog conversions, and digital analog conversion services will be provided to a subscriber base of 24.09 million households. In addition, a decision has been reached on the issuance of subsidiary aid to the 11 businesses (11 facilities) carrying out digital analog conversions by application of the FY 2011 “subsidized project for digital analog conversion equipment maintenance.”

2. Businesses applying FY 2011 “subsidized project for digital analog conversion equipment maintenance”

The 11 businesses (11 facilities) carrying out digital analog conversions by application of the support system (two-thirds of digital analog conversion equipment maintenance costs are covered by this support) approved in the Government budget for FY 2011 are as per the enclosed documents.
[For reference: The support system in the FY 2010 budget was applied by 196 businesses (283 facilities).]
