On May 26, 2011, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) sent an inquiry to the Information and Communications Administration and Postal System Administration Council (Chairman: Atsushi Takahashi, Chairman of Board of Directors at Sumitomo Trust and Banking Company, Ltd.) concerning the approval of an application from Japan Post Service Co., Ltd., dated April 22, 2011, by means of regulations in Article 7, Clause 5 of the Law (1949 Law, Act No. 224) relating to New Year's postcards, etc., and a reply was received from the Council stating its approval.
Having received this reply, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will approve this matter as of May 26, 2011.
1. Number of distribution organizations, etc.
(1) Number of distribution organizations: 203
(Breakdown)
- New Year's postcard contributions (general aid): 184 organizations
- New Year's postcard contributions (relief aid for victims of Eastern Japan Great Earthquake Disaster): 7 organizations
- Carbon offset New Year's postcard contributions: 12 organizations
(2) Total value of distribution: approx. 516.58 million yen
(Breakdown)
- New Year's postcard contributions (general aid): 358.02 million yen
- New Year's postcard contributions (relief aid for victims of Eastern Japan Great Earthquake Disaster): 184 million yen
- Carbon offset New Year's postcard contributions: approx. 56.82 million yen
