On June 6, 2011, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) authorized an application from Wireless City Planning, Inc. (CEO & President: Masayoshi Son) for modifications to an establishment plan for special base stations using 2.5GHz-band frequencies.
1. Background, etc.
On December 21, 2007, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) authorized an application from WILLCOM, Inc. for the plans for the establishment of special base stations using 2.5GHz-band frequencies, based on the Radio Law (1950 Law, Act No. 131) and “Guidelines for Establishment of Special Base Stations using 2.5GHz-band Frequencies” (2007 Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications Bulletin No. 457).
Subsequently, on December 21, 2010, accompanying the enforcement of an absorption-type split by means of WILLCOM, Inc.'s reorganization plan, succession of its authorized establishment status involving the same establishment plans was given to Wireless City Planning, Inc., based on Article 27, Clause 16 of the same Law application mutatis mutandis pursuant to provisions in Article 20, Clause 2.
After carrying out system maintenance for the upgrading of a broadband mobile wireless access system enabling communication environment improvements such as increases in transmission speed, etc. and efficient area expansion, etc., the company submitted an application for modification of the establishment plans based on Article 27, Clause 14.1 of the same Law in order to expand its services through the aforementioned upgrades.
On June 6, 2011, after inspecting the application, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) found the modifications to the establishment plan to be suitable and therefore gave its authorization based on Article 27, Clause 13.4 of the same Law applied mutatis mutandis to Clause 2 in the same Article.
