Awards from Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications for FY 2011 “Radio Wave Day and Info-Communications Promotion Month”

 

 As part of the 61st “Radio Wave Day” (June 1, 2011) and the FY 2011 “Info-Communications Promotion Month” (May 15 to June 15, 2011), the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will give awards to individuals and organizations that have contributed to the development of information communications.
 An outline of these awards is provided below.


1. Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications “Radio Wave Day” award (see enclosed documents for further details)
 Three individuals:
 Enrique Cornejo Ramirez Ministry of Transportation and Communications, Republic of Peru
 Kashiko Kodate       Emeritus Professor, Japan Women's University
 Susumu Yoshida       Professor at Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University

 Two organizations (three parties):
 Suzu-shi
 Noto-cho
 Association of Radio Industries and Businesses Digital Broadcasting System Development Section Meeting
  Digital Receiver Work Party Emergency Information Transmission Task Group

 Tsunetoshi Ishibashi     Advisor, Japan Cable and Telecommunications Association

・Radio Wave Day
 “Radio Wave Day” was established to commemorate the liberalization of radio from being a government-exclusive tool to one that could be used by all citizens, by virtue of the enforcement in 1950 of the Radio Law and Broadcast Act, and it continues to contribute to the development of radio wave use while also aiming to make improvements and disseminate information concerning radio wave use to citizens across all social strata.
・ Info-Communications Promotion Month
 Initiated with the telecommunications system reforms of 1985, “Info-Communications Promotion Month” was created with the objective of promoting and diffusing telecommunications, and for its duration various telecommunications-related events are carried out in all parts of the country, seeking cooperation and understanding from a wide range of people with regard to achieving a prosperous life through telecommunications.
・ Radio Wave Day and Info-Communications Promotion Month Central Commemoration Ceremony
 Awards are usually given out at the Central Commemoration Ceremony, held annually on June 1, but this year the ceremony has been suspended due to the situation with regards to damage, etc. caused by the Eastern Japan Great Earthquake Disaster.
 Please note that awards will be announced within the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) at a future date.
