NTT East and NTT West for Business Application Approved

Inter-prefecture service provision of end-to-end communication using next generation networks

 On July 13, 2011, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) approved business applications (business regulated by Article 2, Item 5 of the Act on Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, etc. (Act No. 85 of 1984 Law); hereinafter the same) requested by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation (hereinafter, “NTT East and West”).


1. Background

 On May 26, 2011, business application license requests were received from NTT East and West. The content of the business application license requests (a total of two requests from NTT East and West) covers “inter-prefecture service provision of end-to-end communication using next generation networks.”
 Having received these requests, from May 31 to June 28, 2011 the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) held an appeal for opinions on its views on these requests to serve as references in its examination. Nine opinions were submitted in response to this appeal.


2. Results from appeal for opinions and examination

 The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) approved the business relating to these requests after conducting an examination based on results from the appeal for opinions and appending as terms the content.
 The content of these opinions will be distributed at the address provided at the end of this document, and will also be published in the “Reports and documents” area of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) website (http://www.soumu.go.jp) as well as in the “Public comment” field of e-Gov (http://www.e-gov.go.jp), the electronic coordinated government contact website.
