The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will open a “Committee Meeting for Promotion of Japanese-Version EHR Project” to carry out studies in relation to the FY 2011 Health Information Application Foundation-Building Project.
1. Purpose of opening
Based on the “Health Information Application Foundation-Building Project” implemented in FY 2011 by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) in order to build a foundation for individuals to electronically control and apply their own medical care and health information (information on medical treatment, compounding medicine, medical examinations, etc.), this Committee Meeting will be opened to study the state of universal effects and problem-solving policies, as well as common specifications for ICT systems, etc., and to compile reports concerning these, in relation to information coordination systems (Japanese-version EHR) with shared utilization across wide areas for the safe and smooth distribution of medical care-related information held by each organization/region.
*EHR (Electronic Health Record): A system enabling individuals to electronically control and apply their own medical care and health information (information on medical treatment and examinations, etc.) “throughout one's lifetime.”

(1) Effects of Japanese-version EHR
(2) Japanese-version EHR problems and problem-solving policy
(3) Efficient and secure information distribution and cooperation policy
(4) Sustainable management methods (state of core management and responsibility for application costs)
(5) All-purpose, inexpensive characteristics of ICT systems
(6) Other items
3. Schedule
The first meeting will be held on July 19 (Tue), 2011, and a written report will be compiled around March 2012.
