Succession of Medium Wave Broadcasting Channel License and Main Terrestrial Broadcasting Business from Ibaraki Broadcasting System Co., Ltd. to IBS Corporation

In line with the partial transfer of business from Ibaraki Broadcasting System Co., Ltd. (President & CEO: Koji Doi), a special main terrestrial broadcaster of medium wave broadcasting covering Ibaraki Prefecture, to IBS Corporation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) on July 20, 2011 authorized a request from IBS Corporation for succession of medium wave broadcasting channel licensee status from Ibaraki Broadcasting System Co., Ltd., and approved a request from Ibaraki Broadcasting System Co., Ltd. for succession of status as an authorized main broadcaster of medium wave broadcasting.


This matter separates the so-called hardware business conducted by the application of main broadcasting channels from the so-called software business of main terrestrial broadcasting business based on regulations in the Broadcast Act and Radio Act revisions enforced on June 30, 2011. Accordingly, IBS Corporation becomes a main broadcasting channel supply business (hardware business), while Ibaraki Broadcasting System Co., Ltd. becomes an authorized main broadcaster (software business).
