Requests for Authorization of Main Satellite Broadcasting Business in Relation to 110 East Longitude CS Digital Broadcasting to be Accepted, and Explanatory Meeting to be held for Prospective Applicants

 From August 19 (Fri) to September 30 (Fri), 2011, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will accept requests for authorization of main satellite broadcasting business in relation to 110 east longitude CS digital broadcasting.


1. Requests for authorization of main satellite broadcasting business in relation to 110 east longitude CS digital broadcasting

(1) Acceptance period
09:30 on August 19 (Fri) to 18:15 on September 30 (Fri), 2011
(2) Address for submission of applications
Satellite and Regional Broadcasting Division, Information and Communications Bureau, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC)
Kasumigaseki 2-1-2, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, 100-8926
(3) Frequencies covered
Channels 2 and 14 among the frequencies used by 110 east longitude CS digital broadcasting, and frequencies newly vacated as a result of abolition of existing broadcast programs and reduction of frequencies accompanying this authorization
(4) Relevant laws and ordinances, etc.
The "110 east longitude CS digital broadcasting Business (Main Satellite Broadcasting) Application Manual" will be published on the official Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) website (see the "Manual Handbook Support Menu" (http://www.soumu.go.jp/joho_tsusin/manual.html) of the "Portal Site for MIC Information and Communications Policy") from the date on which requests are accepted (August 19, 2011), and this will also be distributed at the Satellite and Regional Broadcasting Division, Information and Communications Bureau, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC).


2. Explanatory meeting to be held for prospective applicants

(1) Meeting venue: Mita Public Conference Center Auditorium (Mita 2-1-8, Minato-ku, Tokyo) (see attachment for map)
(2) Date and time: August 22 (Mon), 2011 (14:00-16:00)
(3) Target persons: Prospective applicants for main satellite broadcasting business in relation to 110 east longitude CS digital broadcasting
(4) Main topics: Authorization system and specific procedure, schedule, etc.
(5) How to apply to participate
Specify your full name, place of employment and the post to which you are attached, contact address (e-mail address or telephone number) and the number of persons who plan to participate, and make sure that you submit this information under the title, "Application for participation in presentation - [the aforementioned details]," and send to the following address by e-mail no later than 17:00 on August 17 (Wed).

3. Schedule

 After the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has concluded its acceptance of requests for authorization of main satellite broadcasting business in relation to 110 east longitude CS digital broadcasting, it will carry out inspections and submit an inquiry to the Radio Regulatory Council before issuing authorization.
