FY 2011 "Information and Communications Status Report" (FY 2011 Information and Communications White Paper) Published

 On August 9, 2011, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) published the "Information and Communications Status Report" (FY 2011 Information and Communications White Paper).


 The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has drawn up "Information and Communications White Papers" annually since 1973, with the aim of broadly gaining citizens' comprehension of Japan's present condition with regard to information and communications as well as information and communications policy trends, and this year marks the 39th time the White Papers have been compiled.
 In this White Paper, the first part details the state of information communications in the Great East Japan Earthquake, while the second part is a feature on "Implementation of a Symbiotic Network Society," and the Paper also presents the shape of regeneration/formation of bonds between people and between regions thanks to the osmosis of information communications in society (see attachments).

 The method of announcement will be as follows.

Publication on Information and Communications White Paper website

ˇJapanese edition (complete text and outline) to be published from August 9 (Tue)
ˇEnglish edition (summary and outline) to be published from around the beginning of October


Publication

ˇA4 color books will be printed and sold at major bookstores, government publication service centers and official gazette sales points from August 10 (Wed), 2011.
ˇAn e-book with the same content will be released for sale soon.

Results from "2011 Contest for an Information and Communications White Paper Created by All" (see attachments)

 Having implemented the "2011 Contest for an Information and Communications White Paper Created by All" (public appeal for front cover image and column in FY 2011 Information and Communications White Paper) and carried out inspections by means of experts and specialists, prize-winning works have been selected from among a total of 269 submissions (133 for the front cover, 136 for the column). The winning works are published as the front cover and column of the Information and Communications White Paper.
