Results from Appeal for Opinions on Japan's Views on Each Agenda of the 2012 World Radiocommunications Conference (WRC-12)

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has decided on “Japan's views regarding each agenda of the 2012 World Radiocommunications Conference (WRC-12)” (hereinafter, “Japan's views”), which is scheduled to be held in Switzerland from January 23 to February 17, 2012.
Opinions on Japan's views were sought from July 21 to August 17, 2011, during which time 10 opinions were received. Accordingly, these opinions and the MIC's views on these opinions are officially announced herein.


1. Background

WRC-12 is a conference of the Radiocommunications Department of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and will be held in Switzerland (Geneva) from January 23 to February 17, 2012 for the purpose of amending radio communications rules regulating methods of use for international frequency bands, application procedure for radio stations, technical standards, etc.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) decided on Japan's views and sought opinions on these views from July 21 to August 17, 2011, during which time 10 opinions were received.


2. Schedule

Based on results from the appeal for opinions, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will keep Japan's views in line with the original plan and will apply these in all kinds of international meetings towards WRC-12, such as the WRC Preparatory Meeting for the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT).
