On September 16, 2011, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) received a partial reply from the Information and Communications Council (Chairman: Takuma Ootoshi, Chairman of IBM Japan) concerning “Permissible values for interference waves emitted by home electronics, electric tools and similar types of machinery, and measurement methods for these values” and “Technical requirements for measurement devices and methods in relation to wireless interference waves and immunity” as found in Inquiry No. 3, dated September 26, 1988, entitled “Various Comité International Spécial des Perturbations Radioélectriques (CISPR) standards.”
1. Outline
The expansion of radio wave use and the diffusion of high-level electrical and electronic handset devices are causing problems due to radio interference waves emitted by such devices interfering with the practical use of radio communication systems and the functions of other electrical and electronic devices.
For this reason, the Comité International Spécial des Perturbations Radioélectriques (CISPR) (see attachment) is establishing permissible values and methods of measurement (CISPR standards) for all kinds of radio interference waves so as to prevent interference from affecting radio communication systems and other electrical and electronic devices.
CISPR standards have recently been revised in part, and after deliberation by the Information and Communications Council Information Technology Subcommittee, Radio Wave Utilization Environment Committee (Chief Investigator: Osamu Fujiwara, Professor at Faculty of Engineering, Nagoya Institute of Technology), on September 16, 2011, the MIC received a partial reply (see attachment) from the Information and Communications Council concerning “Permissible values for interference waves emitted by home electronics, electric tools and similar types of machinery, and measurement methods for these values” and “Technical requirements for measurement devices and methods in relation to wireless interference waves and immunity.”
Please note that prior to receiving this partial reply the Information and Communications Council established an opportunity for the hearing of opinions, but no opinions were declared.
2. Details of partial reply

3. Schedule
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will inform the concerned government bodies and relevant organizations of the content of this partial reply and broadly publicize it to maintain a favorable radio wave environment.
