On September 30, 2011, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) approved an application from Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation (hereinafter, “NTT East and West”) for the revision of connection agreements relating to Type I designated telecommunications equipment.
1. Background
Accompanying the removal of audio response units equipped in NTT East Japan and NTT West Japan (hereinafter, “NTT East and West”) toll switches, the services that NTT East and West formerly provided using these audio response units will be able to utilize the audio response units equipped in NTT East and West subscriber switches while services provided by connection businesses will be able to utilize audio response units within connection business networks. Therefore, calls concerning services using audio response units will be identified as NTT East and West and connection business service calls, and a function for the routing of these calls to the respective audio response units will be added to the NTT East and West subscriber switches.
NTT East and West has requested modification to connection agreements in order to establish new regulations concerning network remodeling fees relating to this function.
2. Other
This matter is based on provisos, etc. in Article 169 of the Telecommunications Business Law (1984 Law No. 86), and is deemed as being of insufficient significance to warrant the submission of an inquiry to the Information and Communications and Posts Administrative Council .
