Results from Acceptance of Requests for Authorization of Main Satellite Broadcasting Business in Relation to 110 East Longitude CS Digital Broadcasting

  From August 19 to September 30, 2011, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) accepted requests for authorization of main satellite broadcasting business in relation to 110 east longitude CS digital broadcasting, in response to which requests were received from 33 parties. An outline of these requests and applicants is officially announced herein.


1. Outline of requests

(1) Applicants hoping for HDTV programs
    Number of applicants: 31  Number of programs: 36 HDTV programs
(2) Applicants hoping for SDTV programs
    Number of applicants: 20  Number of programs: 23 SDTV programs
*HDTV: high-definition television broadcasting
   SDTV: standard television broadcasting


2. Schedule

 Main satellite broadcasting business in relation to 110 east longitude CS digital broadcasting will be authorized after inspection of the requests that have been received and a report from the Radio Regulatory Council.
