Public Appeal for Organizations to conduct Terrestrial Digital Television Broadcasting Recipient Support

  From February 1 (Wed) to 21 (Tue), 2012, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will hold a public appeal for organizations to conduct the “Transceiver Environment Maintenance Project for Complete Migration to Terrestrial Digital Broadcasting” (Terrestrial Digital Broadcasting Transceiver Environment Maintenance Project) in the budget for FY 2012.

 The migration to terrestrial digital broadcasting was completed on July 24, 2011 with the termination of terrestrial analog broadcasting in 44 prefectures, excluding three prefectures in the Tohoku region (Iwate, Miyagi and Fukushima prefectures), where terrestrial analog broadcasting will be terminated on March 31, 2012.
 Even after the termination of terrestrial analog broadcasting, there remains an ongoing need for steady implementation of various transceiver environment maintenance measures, such as support in the form of reception-related consultations and local investigations/advice, etc. for digital broadcasting reception to satisfy actual regional conditions, as well as permanent countermeasures in areas where new reception problems occur, etc.
 The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) is holding a public appeal (see below) for organizations to conduct the “Transceiver Environment Maintenance Project for Complete Migration to Terrestrial Digital Broadcasting” in the budget for FY 2012.

1. Deadline of appeal

 Submissions must arrive no later than 17:00 on February 21 (Tue), 2012

2. Organizations subject to public appeal

 Organizations with legal personalities.

3. Projects subject to public appeal, and items/documents, etc. required for applications

 The following projects are subject to public appeal, and these are covered by subsidies for expenses of projects supporting wireless system diffusion (Transceiver Environment Maintenance Project for Complete Migration to Terrestrial Digital Broadcasting). When applying, please refer to the attached outline of the public appeal.
(1) Digital reception consultation/countermeasures project

(2) Terrestrial digital television broadcasting center project

(3) Project for subsidization of reception equipment purchases, etc.

(4) Project for temporary countermeasures against poor reception (reception countermeasures project)

4. How to submit application documents

 Please submit by writing in red “Documents concerning XX application” and enclosing inside an envelope the complete set of documents (one original, one copy) required for application to one of the projects from items (1) to (4) in part 3 of this release. (Applications cannot be received by FAX or e-mail.)
 Please note that any documents submitted cannot be returned.
 
*Replace “XX” with name of project from items (1) to (4) in part 3 of this release.

5. Examination methods

 Organizations will be selected based on the opinions provided by external experts after assessment of documents and formats.
