Official Announcement of “Basic Policy for Evaluation of State of Competition in the Telecommunications Business Field” and “Operational Items in 2011 concerning Evaluation of State of Competition in the Telecommunications Business Field”

1. Background

 The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) officially announced the “Basic Policy for Evaluation of State of Competition in the Telecommunications Business Field (Draft)” (hereinafter, “Basic Policy”) and “Operational Items in 2011 concerning Evaluation of State of Competition in the Telecommunications Business Field (Draft)” (hereinafter, “Operational Items in 2011”) on December 21, 2011, and an appeal for opinions was held until January 20, 2012, in response to which eight opinions were submitted.
 This is to announce that a decision has been reached on the “Basic Policy” and “Operational Items in 2011” based on results from the appeal for opinions, etc.

2. Outline, etc.

　Please note that the documents contain a list of the opinions submitted, along with the MIC's views on these opinions will be made available for inspection at the Telecommunications Policy Division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) Telecommunications Bureau (10^th Floor, Central Gov't. Building No. 2), and will also be published in the “Reports and documents” section of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) website (http://www.soumu.go.jp/) and in the “Public comment” area of e-Gov (http://www.e-gov.go.jp/), the coordinated electronic government contact website.

3. Schedule

　Based on its decision regarding the “Basic Policy” and “Operational Items in 2011,” the MIC will carry out competition evaluation for FY 2011 in line with these contents.
