Appeal for Opinions on Draft Proposal from “Research Society concerning Digital Archive of Resources” and Draft Guidelines for Construction and Coordination of Digital Archive

1. Outline

　The MIC is proceeding with the complete digitalization of public intellectual property such as books and publications, official documents, works of art and learning, historical documents, etc., and has since February 2011 opened a “Research Society concerning Digital Archive of Resources” with the purpose of building regional resources by constructing digital archives that can be jointly owned and used as electronic information on the Internet, gathering a wide range of authorized persons, arranging tasks involving the promotion of digital information resource distribution, and promoting reciprocal coordination between digital archives. The Research Society is also conducting studies of various subjects, etc. for promotion of the construction and coordination of the Digital Archive of Resources.

　There will now be an appeal for opinions on a draft proposal and draft guidelines for construction and coordination of the digital archive compiled by this Research Society.

must arrive no later than 17:00 on March 14 (Thu), 2012

　　Please note that this draft proposal and the draft guidelines will be published in the “Reports and documents” area of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) website (http://www.soumu.go.jp) as well as in the “Public comments” section of the e-Gov coordinated electronic government website (http://www.e-gov.go.jp). Opinions can also be inspected at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) Information and Communications Bureau, Advanced Information Systems and Software Division (11th Floor, Central Gov't. Building No. 2).

3. Schedule

　Based on the opinions received in relation to the draft proposal and draft guidelines, the Research Society will aim to carry out a study at the end of March and will then compile final versions of the proposal and guidelines.
