Decision on “Guidelines for Treatment of Rights relating to Broadcast Performances by Performers with regards to Overseas Expansion of Broadcasting Contents”

 Rights-owning organizations and broadcasting businesses have initiated a “Working Group for Smooth Treatment of Rights relating to Overseas Program Sales” through support from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), and discussions have been held regarding smooth treatment of rights towards the promotion of overseas expansion of broadcasting contents. This is to officially announce that the same Working Group has now compiled “Guidelines for Treatment of Right relating to Broadcast Performances by Performers with regards to Overseas Expansion of Broadcasting Contents.”

1. Background

 Rights-owning organizations and broadcasting businesses initiated a “Working Group for Smooth Treatment of Rights relating to Overseas Program Sales”*2 under the “Liaison Group for Smooth Treatment of Broadcasting Content Rights”*1 through support from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC), and discussions have been held regarding policy for smooth treatment of rights between rights-owning organizations and broadcasting businesses in relation to overseas expansion of broadcasting contents.This is to officially announce that the same Working Group has now compiled “Guidelines for Treatment of Right relating to Broadcast Performances by Performers with regards to Overseas Expansion of Broadcasting Contents.”

2. Future initiatives

 The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will proceed with environment maintenance towards promotion of Japanese broadcasting contents by making the relevant organizations and public aware of these Guidelines.
