“Asian Side of the DOC 2012” to be Initiated
From March 17, 2012, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will jointly hold the “Asian Side of the DOC 2012” event with Asian Side of the DOC Pte. Ltd. to promote joint international productions.
“Asian Side of the DOC” is an international event that promotes business matching for joint production of documentaries by countries around the world, including Asian nations. This year's Tokyo event is the third to be held, following on from events in Hong Kong (2010) and Seoul (2011).
More than 500 people are expected to participate in this event, ranging from documentary producers to broadcasting office representatives, etc. from many nations. Pitching sessions and panel discussions, etc. are expected to promote exchanges of information and formation of domestic and foreign human networks required for joint production of documentaries. Also, on March 18, an “earthquake disaster special pitching session”* will be held to implement matching for joint international production of visual contents with the theme of post-earthquake disaster reconstruction.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) is inviting and holding this event in Japan through the “strengthening of information transmission overseas” project in the third revised budget.
*Pitching session refers to a meeting where producers can present their content plans to broadcasting offices and content buyers, etc. and invite cooperation in production.
