
Revision of NTT East and NTT West Type I Designated Telecommunications Equipment Connection Agreements Approved
Expansion of extent of disclosure in relation to information regarding installation of WDM equipment at both ends of relay dark fiber
On March 26, 2012, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) approved an application from Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation (hereinafter, “NTT East and West”) for the revision of connection agreements relating to Type I designated telecommunications equipment.
1. Background
This matter concerns an application for the revision of connection agreements in order to expand the extent of disclosure on homepages aimed at connection businesses provided by NTT East and West in relation to information regarding the installation of WDM (wavelength-division multiplexing) equipment* at both ends of relay dark fiber, which is Type I designated telecommunications equipment of Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation and Nippon Telegraph and Telephone West Corporation (hereinafter, “NTT East and West”).
*Equipment enabling transmission of optical signals by means of multiple wavelengths in single-core optical fiber, by placing optical signals of varying wavelengths on top of each other in optical fiber.

This matter is based on provisos, etc. in Article 169 of the Telecommunications Business Law (1984 Law No. 86), and is deemed as being of insufficient significance to warrant the submission of an inquiry to the Information and Communications and Posts Administrative Council.
