Appeal for Opinions on Ministerial Ordinance Plan for Partial Revision of Regulations for Telecommunications Numbers
On March 29, 2012, the Information and Communications and Posts Administrative Council received a consultation from the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications concerning “partial revision of Regulations for Telecommunications Numbers”
Accordingly, opinions on a ministerial ordinance plan for partial revision of Regulations for Telecommunications Numbers will be held from March 30 (Fri) to May 1 (Tue), 2012.
1. Outline of consultation
On March 29, 2012, the Information and Communications and Posts Administrative Council received a consultation from the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications concerning “partial revision of Regulations for Telecommunications Numbers”. This matter revises the designation requirements of telecommunications number regulations based on a reply from the Information and Communications Council concerning “the state of systems, etc. relating to telecommunications numbers for expansion of the number of telephone numbers for mobile telephones” in which it was stated that “it is appropriate to enable designation of telephone numbers by means of indirect connections through networks of certain telecommunications carriers”.

Please note that once prepared, this draft ministerial ordinance will be published in the “Public comments” section of the e-Gov coordinated electronic government website (http://www.e-gov.go.jp), and will also be available for inspection at the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) Information and Communications Bureau, General Affairs Division (11th Floor, Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC)).
3. Schedule
Based on all of the opinions received, study and deliberation will be conducted before issuing a report to the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications.
