State of Research and Development of Technology Contributing to Prevention of Obstacles to Sending/Receiving E-mail by Means of Specified E-mail, etc., and Introduction of these Technologies by Telecommunications Carriers Providing E-mail Services
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has compiled a report entitled “State of Research and Development of Technology Contributing to Prevention of Obstacles to Sending/Receiving E-mail by Means of Specified E-mail, etc., and Introduction of these Technologies by Telecommunications Carriers Providing E-mail Services,” based on regulations in Article 13 of The Act on Regulation of the Transmission of Specified Electronic Mail (Act No. 26 of 2002).
This looks into progress made by mobile and fixed telecommunications carriers in relation to the introduction of various technologies to prevent transmission and receipt of unsolicited email.
1. Background
Article 13 of The Act on Regulation of the Transmission of Specified Electronic Mail dictates that once a year the Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications will issue an official announcement regarding the state of research and development of technology contributing to the prevention of obstacles to sending/receiving e-mail by means of specified e-mail, etc., and the introduction of these technologies by telecommunications carriers providing e-mail services.
These official announcements regarding the state of research and development, etc. began in 2003.
2. Content
This looks into progress made by mobile and fixed telecommunications carriers in relation to the introduction of various technologies to prevent transmission and receipt of unsolicited email.
