FY2012 Request for Implementation of Overseas Broadcasting, etc. and Answer from Japan Broadcasting Corporation

1. Article 65, Paragraph (1) of the Broadcast Act (Act No.132 of 1950) provides that the Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications may request NHK to implement overseas broadcasting, etc. upon designating service areas, broadcasting matters and other necessary matters

2. MIC inquired the Radio Regulatory Council concerning the request for implementation of FY2012 overseas broadcasting of radio and television on March 14, 2012 and has received a report to the effect that it is appropriate to request as inquired.

3. In response, MIC requested NHK to implement FY2012 overseas broadcasting, etc. (April 1, 2012~April 6, 2012) today through a prior notice of the content of request on March 15, 2012.

4. We have received an answer to our request from NHK that it accepts the request for implementing overseas broadcasting of radio and television from April 1, 2012~April 6, 2012.
