Official Announcement of 2012 Guidelines (Guidebook) concerning Information Communication Technology to Promote Use and Utilization of ICT in the Field of Education

  The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has formulated the guidelines concerning points to remember related to ICT at the time of constructing an ICT environment and operating, using and utilizing Information Communication Technology in the field of education based on the achievements of the Future School Promotion Project in FY2011. These guidelines intend to be used as references of specific efforts for people who involve in the field of education and are officially announced herein.

1.Background

  MIC has implemented the Future School Promotion Project from FY2010 for the purpose of extracting and analyzing issues mainly in aspects of ICT and has continuously implemented said project also after FY2011 with the aim of promoting the use and utilization of ICT in the field of education.
  As for the FY2011 Future School Promotion Project, 8 junior high schools and 2 schools for special needs education have been added to 10 demonstrative schools (elementary schools) in FY2010.
  Those efforts and guidelines resulted from them have been deliberated by holding the Study Group for Promotion of Future School convened by the State Secretary for Internal Affairs and Communications three times in total from the first meeting held in July 27, 2011 and the Council for Experimental Study on Leading Education Utilizing ICT jointly held with the Promotion Council for Learning Innovation (MEXT) on November 14, 2011.
  MIC has formulated 2012 Guidelines (Guidebook) concerning Information Communication Technology to Promote Use and Utilization of ICT in the Field of Education to be used as references of specific efforts for people who involve in the field of education and the guidelines will be officially announced herein*.
  * These guidelines will be posted on the MIC website and sent to the prefectural and municipal boards of education nationwide with documents in the name of MIC and MEXT.
