Appeal for Opinions on the MIC’s Views on NHK’s Application for Authorization of “Business to Provide the Public with Live Relay Videos of Some Sports pertaining to the London Olympic Games thorough the Internet”
Appeal for opinions pertaining to the business prescribed in Article 20, Paragraph 2, Item (viii) of the Broadcast Act
An application for authorization of a “business to provide the public with live relay videos of some sports pertaining to the London Olympic Games through the Internet” was made by NHK (President: Masayuki MATSUMOTO). From May 3 (Thu) to June 1 (Fri), 2012, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will hold an appeal for opinions on the MIC’s views on this application for authorization.
1.Background
On April 24, 2012, NHK made an application for authorization of a “business to provide the public with live relay videos of some sports pertaining to the London Olympic Games through the Internet pursuant to the provision of Article 20, Paragraph 10 of the Broadcast Act (Act No.132 of 1950) as a business of Article 20, Paragraph 2, Item (viii). The MIC has compliled the present views on this application for authorization and will hold an appeal for your opinions on these views.
