
Results of Visit of Mr. Takashi Morita, Vice-Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, to the Republic of Mozambique
Mr. Takashi Morita, Vice-Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, visited the Republic of Mozambique from May 2 (Wed) to May 6 (Sun), 2012. During his visit, Mr. Morita had talks with Prime Minister Aires Ali and the other dignitaries of the Government of Mozambique and related authorities, consulted the execution of the trial broadcasting of the Japanese-Brazilian terrestrial digital broadcasting system (ISDB-T) in Mozambique and confirmed that the two countries will continue to make efforts in mutual cooperation for the trial broadcasting.
1.Background
Prime Minister Noda confirmed the intention to continue to exchange views on the ISDB-T with Mozambique and SADC member countries in a joint press statement, which was announced after the summit meeting with Prime Minister Ali, when he visited Japan in February 2012. In response, Mr. Morita, Vice-Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, visited the Republic of Mozambique and exchanged opinions with dignitaries of the government of Mozambique with the aim of accelerating the adopting ISDB-T.
2.Consultation
Mr. Morita had talks with Prime Minister Ali, Mr. Saide, Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications, Mr. Silva, Chairman of the Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority and Mr. Chavana, Chairman, Television of Mozambique(National Broadcaster) to encourage Mozambique to adopt the ISDB-T and consulted the execution of the trial broadcasting of ISDB-T in Mozambique. The both countries agreed to continue to make efforts hand in hand toward the trial broadcasting around September 2012.
3.Future initiatives
The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will conduct the trial broadcasting and hold seminars by dispatching experts toward the adoption of the ISDB-T in Mozambique in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and related ministries and agencies, broadcasters, manufactures and research institutions. The MIC will work diligently to further disseminate the ISDB-T in collaboration with countries which have already adopted it.
