Official Announcement of Verification Results based on the Competition Safeguard System (FY2011)

1.Background, etc.

  The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) has operated the competition safeguard system from FY2007 with a view to regularly verifying the effectiveness of designated telecommunications facilities and the requirements for fair competition related to Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation, etc.
  An appeal for opinion (from July 2 to August 1, 2011) and a repeat appeal for opinions (from August 13 to September 20, 2011) were held concerning each matter subject to verification prescribed in the “guidelines for operation of the competition safeguard system” (formulated and officially announced in April 2007, revised in July 2008) as reference for this FY’s verification.
  The MIC has verified based on the opinions submitted in response to the appeal for opinions and the repeat appeal for opinions and compiled the draft verification results based on the competition safeguard system. From February 18 to March 19, 2012, an appeal for opinions on these draft verification results was held and opinions were submitted from eight persons in response to this appeal.
  The MIC has compiled the verification results based on the competition safeguard system (FY2011) based on the opinions submitted in response to this appeal for opinions and they are officially announced herein.
  The opinions submitted in response to the draft verification results based on this system will be posted in the column of “press release” on the MIC website (http://www.soumu.go.jp) and the column of “public comments” on the e-government portal (e-Gov) (http://www.e-gov.go.jp) and also distributed at counters of contact.
 

2.Future plans

  These verification results will swiftly be reported to the Information and Communications and Posts Administrative Council.
