Implementation of FY2012 Awareness-raising and Enlightenment Period for Protection of Environment for Radio Wave Utilization
From June 1 (Fri)* to June 10 (Mon), 2012, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications (MIC) will implement awareness-raising and enlightenment activities related to the use of radio waves in an intensive and concentrated manner as the awareness-raising and enlightenment period for protection of environment for radio wave utilization under the catchphrase “STOP Illegal Radio Waves! Does your radio equipment have a technical conformity mark?
These awareness-raising and enlightenment activities will be implemented with a view to protecting radio stations that are in operation in a proper manner and their users from interference or any other hindrance caused by illegal radio stations by making the people know that there are rules for the use of radio waves and non-compliance with these rules has a strong adverse effect on our society.
In addition, the MIC will promote the improvement of ideal environment for radio wave use by strengthening crackdown on illegal radio stations from June 1 (Fri) to June 30 (Sat), 2012.
*June 1 is “Radio Wave Day.” “Radio Wave Day” was established in 1950 to commemorate the liberalization of radio wave use from being a government-exclusive tool to one that could be used by all citizens, by virtue of the enactment of the Radio Act, the Broadcast Act and the Act for Establishment of the Radio Regulatory Commission.
